Uom Mam Xanh -Fulfilling Children’s Dreams

Ươm mầm xanh is a scholarship fund dedicated to assisting and nurturing the country’s underprivileged youth. As President Ho Chi Minh once said, “Children today, the world tomorrow.” In his 1946 Mid-Autumn Festival letter to Vietnamese children, he wrote:

“Dear children, today’s children are the future of tomorrow.

The entire country is invested in you.

Your future is the future of our nation.

You must be well-educated and well-care

To grow up strong and capable.”

Indeed, children are the seedlings of our nation. When they are properly and thoroughly nurtured, they will shine and grow even stronger. However, not all plants receive the same care. Linh, an outstanding student from a poor village in Bình Thuận Province, Vietnam, lost her parents at a young age and was raised by her frail grandmother. Despite these challenges, Linh has always been at the top of her class. Her dream is to become a doctor to provide healthcare for her village, which lacks basic medical facilities. However, financial constraints have always posed a threat to her dream.

When Linh learned about the “Nurturing Green Growth” scholarship, she applied with high hopes. Her excellent academic record and heartfelt recommendation from local authorities helped her secure the scholarship. With financial support and career counseling, Linh is now in her second year of medical school. She is on her way to achieving her dream of bringing positive change to her community.
